Dry Needling
Stimulate Trigger Points With Dry Needling
At Bryce Olson Physical Therapy, we use dry needling (DN) to reduce muscle tightness, improve pain/symptoms, and restore structure and function in your body.
DN therapy uses thin filiform needles to penetrate the skin and underlying tissues in order to stimulate your body’s trigger points. These points are hyperirritable, palpable nodules in muscle fibers that develop due to a variety of influences.
- Injury
- Muscle overuse
- Lack of exercise
- Bad posture
- Stress
- Sleep disturbances
- And many other causes
DN is covered by some insurance policies. Cash pay options also are available.
Texas now supports direct access for physical therapy!
Referral is no longer needed to evaluate and treat patients. However, when a referral is needed, we have in-house Providers who can see you and provide the referral.
DN Improves FunctionalityThroughout Your Body
When your body develops trigger points, they can cause local tenderness, referred pain, muscle tightness, and muscle weakness. These conditions, in turn, reduce function and cause movement impairments.
Insertion of the needle causes stimulation of local twitch responses, reducing chemical substances that cause pain, increasing blood flow, and restoring the resting length of muscles. All of these benefits reduce impairments and restore overall function
Electrical stimulation can be added to accelerate and enhance the pain-relieving effect.
